What Does Accreditation Mean for Alumni?

info

West Coast Baptist College has been nationally accredited since April 2019. Here are a few pointers on what this means for us as WCBC Alumni:

  1. Any degrees received May 2019 or more recently are accredited degrees.

  2. While degrees received May 2019 or more recently are accredited, this does not retroactively affect the accreditation status of any previously received degree.

  3. All WCBC degrees have greater recognition than prior to the accreditation. West Coast Baptist College was awarded Accredited status by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). TRACS is a national accrediting agency and is recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDOE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), and the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE).

  4. TRACS currently has no retroactive period that will accredit degrees previously received. While degrees received prior to this year (2019) are not accredited, many schools will look favorably upon those degrees since WCBC is now accredited.

  5. If you graduated before 2019 and are interested in earning an accredited degree from WCBC, you can re-enroll under the current catalog year and pursue any current available concentration. A maximum of 96 applicable credits that you previously completed at WCBC will apply towards your chosen concentration. You will then need to complete all remaining required courses for that concentration at WCBC, including but not limited to 32 credits.

Once the concentration requirements are complete, you will have the opportunity to participate in the graduation for that year, and you will be awarded a new diploma.

If you are interested in taking online classes for this purpose, or if you want more information about our online program, you can call the college at 888.694.9222 and ask for the online learning office.

  6. Accreditation provides added benefits to any of our children who come to WCBC as they will receive accredited degrees and potentially have access to some private scholarships that were unavailable to us.

If you have any questions on the ramifications of our accreditation status, you can contact our Academic Office at academics@wcbc.edu.
